As a matter of a fact you can find every single forgable weapon as loot somewhere and you'll have plenty of gold regardless so it's a waste of LP to learn anything beyond the first sword. Risen is much shorter and more focused, and some minor quest bugs sort of ruin a bit of the fun, but the combat is much better. Oh, and the engine isn't the same as or a modified version of the one used in Gothic 3, despite certain graphical similarities. Gothic 1 and 2 are still my personal favorites of the developer's games, though.
